Learning a language becomes easier — and far more fun — when you use it socially. Alongside our Adult Portuguese Classes, Casa Brasil offers and supports several opportunities for learners to practise Portuguese in relaxed, friendly environments.

Monthly Conversation Group

Tuesdays, 6:30–8:30 PM — Free to join
A welcoming conversation group where portuguese learners meet to chat, learn, and make friends. Practise both English and Portuguese in a relaxed, supportive environment.
From 2026 at Casa Brasil.
We kindly ask participants to become Brasileirinhos members ($30 annual membership) to support the use of our space.

Volunteer Opportunities at Casa Brasil

Casa Brasil is a living, breathing community home — and volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Supporting our space is a beautiful way to practise Portuguese in real-life situations while helping our programmes thrive.

Volunteers can help with:

• Events & Workshops
  Welcoming participants, setting up spaces, assisting facilitators, and helping create the warm, joyful atmosphere Casa Brasil is known for.
• Community Programmes
  Supporting children’s activities, senior sessions, cultural celebrations, and language events — all while interacting in Portuguese with families and community members.
• Day-to-Day Casa Brasil Operations
  Helping keep our home running smoothly through simple but meaningful tasks such as:
  • Organising resources and materials
  • Tidying shared spaces
  • Preparing rooms for classes or meetings
  • Assisting with signage, displays, or bulletin boards
  • Greeting visitors and offering basic information
  • Helping maintain our welcoming, colourful environment
• Cultural Activities & Celebrations
  Assisting with music, dance, food preparation, decorations, and other cultural elements that bring Brazil to life in Aotearoa.
• Special Projects
  Supporting one-off initiatives, community collaborations, or seasonal events where extra hands make a big difference.
